Teen Group 5:00pm-6:30pm on Thursdays at the Mental Health Association A free, weekly drop-in group for teens, Teen Group provides an opportunity for adolescents to meet peers, have fun and socialize in a safe and healthy manner, and share their experiences, struggles and successes with one another. Respite

Elmira Respite Program
The Child & Adolescent Crisis Residence provides a short term (1-21 day), trauma sensitive, safe and therapeutic living environment and crisis support, to children and adolescents (who receive mental health services), their families and service providers. The goal of this 8 bed program is to stabilize the crisis situation and to support the family or service provider’s efforts to maintain youth in his or her current residence. Mental Health Association
Saturday Respite Recreation Program 12:00-4:00PM @ YMCA of Ithaca & Tompkins County (Saturdays throughout the school year) Youth facing mental health/developmental challenges, as well as their siblings (regardless of diagnosis) are eligible to attend our program at the Y. MHATC staff and interns supervise youth, maintaining at minimum a 1:5 staff-to-youth ratio, and participants have access to a variety of activities, including swimming, racquetball, basketball, billiards, and indoor as well as outdoor play structures. Greater Binghamton Adolescent Crisis Respite
ACR serves youth (13-17 yrs) who are in situational crisis caused by event in adolescent's environment such as family problems, loss of relationships, neglect, abuse, school problems or homelessness. ACR designed to assist youth and their families involving crisis situations and to avert hospitalization by providing respite and crisis intervention. Outpatient Mental Health Treatment providers can screen adolescents on weekdays. Evening, night, weekend and holidays, Bassett Hospital screens adolescents from Otsego, Delaware and Chenango Counties. Binghamton General Hospital CPEP screens teens from Tioga and Broome Counties. Cayuga Medical Center screens teens from Tompkins County. These three hospitals can also screen during weekdays if individuals are not connected with outpatient mental health treatment providers. Planned respite service provided on pre-arranged, pre-approved basis. They are ready to "pay it forward" and help other parents who may need support and a listening ear. They listen, make connections, collaborate, inform, help bridge communication and understanding, and build hope together. Mental Health Association in Tompkins County The Family Support Services Program is focused on the needs of families who have a child or children with a social, emotional, behavioral, developmental or a mental health disability. FSS provides services to support and empower families so they can improve the quality of their lives and help their children to achieve their full potential within the family network and community. Village at Ithaca
The Village at Ithaca’s Family Advocacy Program (FAP) supports families who have children in the Ithaca City School District (ICSD). Families are matched with a trained local community member (a Family Advocate) who provides long-term, one-on-one support to the family, directing them to local resources and services that will support them in becoming more effective advocates for their children. Family Advocates also act as a liaison between the school district and the family, assisting parents and caregivers navigate school policies and programs in support of their children. Typical examples of the kinds of things that Family Advocates do include:

  1. Attend Teacher conferences with caregivers to promote better communications
  2. Review / explain a child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  3. Attend Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings with caregivers
  4. Identify and coordinate additional academic support for the children
  5. Assess existing services that the child/family may be receivin
